Barbara is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University – Commerce and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She completed her clinical training at Gateway to College and Eastfield Counseling Services, where she worked with teens and young adults and challenged them to learn additional life skills, improve attitudes, develop core values, and attain knowledge to maximize their academic, career, and personal growth. She has experience with Neurofeedback and Biofeedback helping clients with their severe anxiety, addiction, depression, anger, stress management, pain management, and trauma recovery.

Barbara brings over 5 years of experience in working with individuals who suffer with depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse, self-harm, self-esteem, stress, OCD, ADHD, relationship issues, grief and loss. Her theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Goal Oriented, and Integrative which she uses to help her clients find ways to make changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. Her focus is on treating depression and anxiety as well as symptoms related to trauma through the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy counseling and self-calming skills through Heart Rate Variability training. She teaches techniques to help create an optimal state in which heart, mind and emotion are operating in-sync and balanced. She believes we all need someone to talk with who will really listen and accept us as we are, without judgment.
